The Calm Before the Storm

This past week was the first (and most likely the only) week that was not packed with assessments and other assignments. I like to think about it as “the calm before the storm” because it was the last week of the first six weeks, and Coach Goff keeps telling us that “the second six weeks is what separates the girls and boys from the men and women.” The workload is about to double, but I am looking forward to meeting these new assignments with diligence and a positive attitude.
Recently, I have been trying to set up interviews with some animators at Brazen Animation because Seth Gordon, an animator at Explosm and Microsoft who used to work at Brazen, spoke very highly of the atmosphere and the people there. I understand that these professionals are extremely busy with meeting deadlines and completing work, so I am suggesting a multitude of dates and times and asking them what works for their schedules. I have also been communicating with a senior lecturer with a focus on Animation at UT Dallas, so hopefully I will be able to interview her and ask her about her experience with cloth simulations while working on The Book of Life and Free Birds!
